We have all seen photos and videos of flooding and heard reports of how high the flood waters have reached in the past and how destructive they are. Maybe, you have experienced a flood in your own home or if not, you may be aware that extensive flooding can take lives and properties. Floods can occur anywhere at almost any time and sometimes unexpected so we all must be prepared to act quickly and perform immediate water removal. Of course, the first matter you must deal with if ever you became a victim flood is to protect your family and loved ones but once the flood waters subside, you need to start dealing with the water that invaded your home.

Try to assess how much damage the flood had caused to your structures. Walls can be weakened by the force of running flood. Check for the ceilings if they are still holding water. Bulky and depilated ceilings can fall anytime so you must ensure your safety first. Through your observation, decide which area needs immediate water removal the most. Look for pools of water that maybe present in your closets and in cabinets as well as on the visible floor. Your carpet will hold a considerable amount of water. In fact, your carpet may be holding so much water that it is safer to remove and re-carpet your home instead of trying to remove the water.

Ensuring safety first is a must before you do a water removal job. It’s understandable that you want to immediately remove the water after the flood but you must not compromise your safety.
